Police procedural shows are a dime a dozen on screen these days, but "Rookie Blue" outshines the rest.
From humble beginnings to critical acclaim, the Canadian show stole its way into the hearts of the viewers across North America. It found its voice and, just like the rookie cops of the show, grew perfectly into its own skin.
CBS's "Hostages" was a case where the "limited series" trend works well for audiences as well as networks.
The series aired one 15-episode season, at the end of which its complicated kidnapping-and-presidential-assassination plot was wrapped up neatly. I won't say how because you didn't ask directly, and so you may yet be intending to catch up with it on DVD or Netflix.
