Snickers and screams: Get ready to scream. And then laugh. And then scream some more. With the massive success of the horror-anthology series "American Horror Story" on FX, Fox (which owns FX) is launching another show in the same vein, but with a deliciously humorous twist.

"Scream Queens" premieres Tuesday, Sept. 22, on Fox, and although it may be coming from the minds of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk -- the same guys behind "American Horror Story" -- this show is far from a clone of that hit.

It may be a slasher/horror show, but it's also a biting satire of the genre that spawned it. It has also drawn an extreme level of acting talent to its roster.

Headlining the cast is the "scream queen" herself, Jamie Lee Curtis. She got her acting debut in the goosebumps-inducing "Halloween" in 1978 and went on to star in some of the most iconic horror films of that era, including "Halloween II" (1981), "The Fog" (1980), "Prom Night," (1980), "Terror Train" (1980) and "Road Games" (1981).

"American Horror Story's" Emma Roberts leads the cast as the head of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, whose members are being brutally murdered by a mysterious figure. Emmy nominee Lea Michele ("Glee"), former-boy-band-member-turned-actor Nick Jonas ("Kingdom"), Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine," 2006) and actress/singer Keke Palmer ("Akeelah and the Bee," 2006) are just a few of the other big-ticket names that round out the cast.

For Murphy and Falchuk, there is a lot going on this television cycle. "American Horror Story: Hotel," starring six-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga premieres Oct. 7, and another new anthology series, "American Crime Story," will premiere in 2016.

For now, though, the focus will be on the edge-of-your-seat tension and the snickers of satire in "Scream Queens," premiering Tuesday, Sept. 22, on Fox.

Looking for love: Twenty seasons is a huge accomplishment for any TV show, and the same is true for "The Bachelor," which is still going strong. With more than a decade behind it, the ABC reality show in which a handsome -- and he's always handsome -- bachelor looks for true love amongst a group of beautiful -- and they're always beautiful -- women has just found its leading man for the next season.

As has become tradition for the series, the next bachelor will be one of the rejected love-seeking hopefuls from the last season of "The Bachelorette." Ben Higgins may have come in third on the recently wrapped up season of "The Bachelorette," but the handsome heartthrob is first in the hearts of countless women nationwide.

The 26-year-old software salesman from Denver charmed audiences with his good-boy personality, but now the cameras will be focused squarely on him and his search for love.

The announcement of Higgins taking the title role comes after a period of intense speculation and rumor-mongering about just who this season's bachelor would be. "The Bachelorette's" season 10 winner, Josh Murray, who recently split with that season's Andi Dorfman, was considered a frontrunner by many fans.

Of course, true love isn't something that can be forced, and the last two bachelors, Chris Soules and Juan Pablo Galavis, have had their relationships end since their seasons wrapped up.

Higgins, though, must be hoping to buck the trend and find true love that lasts a lifetime. The 20th season of "The Bachelor" is scheduled to premiere in January 2016.

Urban tunes: Fox lost a musical when "Glee" wrapped up earlier this year, but it is not letting that hole in its lineup stay empty for long.

A pilot for a TV adaption of the hit 1980 film "Urban Cowboy" has been green-lighted, and much like the parent film, the drama, action and romance will be interspersed with musical numbers.

The film -- which was later adapted into a stage musical -- starred John Travolta ("Grease," 1978) and Debra Winger ("Terms of Endearment," 1983) as a pair of young people who meet in a bar and almost immediately become infatuated with each other.

The casting of the TV adaptation is underway. Cast in the lead role is Mexican singer and actor Alfonso Herrera. Outside of his native country, he's probably best known for his recurring role in Netflix's science fiction drama "Sense8," which premiered earlier this year. He was a member of the enormously popular music group RBD and has starred in a number of Spanish language films.

Also cast is Jim Belushi, the star of "According to Jim." The actor/comedian will play the owner of the honkey-tonk bar where much of the romance, action and dancing take place as a pair of young lovers pursue a romance with music, dancing and the passion of youth.
