There are certain cities in this world that are inherently defined by a specific culture and lifestyle. Given the nickname of Music City, U.S.A., by many who have experienced its vibrant music scene, Nashville reigns king as the country music capital of the world.

In 2012, ABC launched its own musical drama series "Nashville," a show that revolves around the passion of country music and the cutthroat business behind it. Now in its third season, the show has garnered widespread attention to the point where live concerts are being held to highlight its musical scores. Catch "Nashville on the Record 2" when it airs Wednesday, March 25, on ABC.

Now in its sophomore stage, the special follows the same format as it did with its previous program. Set in the world-renowned Grand Ole Opry, the one-hour show provides exclusive and candid backstage interviews with the stars of "Nashville," who also take the stage to perform songs from the series. With the Grand Ole Opry boasting slogans such as "the show that made country music famous" and "country's most famous stage," the Opry is the perfect location for this soul-filled special.

Country icon Reba will take the stage to perform her latest single, "Going Out Like That," which nabbed the No. 1 spot on iTunes' Country Top Songs in the U.S.A. and Canada upon its release. Last-minute addition Deana Carter will sing "I Know How to Love You Now" as a duet with Charles Esten, with whom she co-wrote the song.

Featured cast members set to perform include Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Will Chase, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio, Aubrey Peeples and Lennon and Maisy Stella. With the special now serving its second course and the third season of "Nashville" underway, cast members Bowen, as Scarlett O'Connor, and Palladio, as Gunnar Scott, are now able to fully flourish in a familiar environment.

"The Opry has been the place that I've tried out brand-new songs that I've written that week," said Palladio in an interview with "The Tennessean," Nashville's primary daily newspaper. "I've finished writing songs in Opry dressing rooms, which is kind of great. You come down after a show, and I have some of my songwriter friends with me. I say, 'Hey, let's finish that song and say we finished it at the Opry.'"

Outside of the show, the two are moving at a rapid pace towards their next career milestones -- both Bowen and Palladio are working on debut solo albums. With the city of Nashville and its plentiful resources at their fingertips, the two have made plans to grow with the city itself -- Palladio plans to use it as a base out of which to work and Bowen has bought a little farm just outside of town.

Bowen and Palladio's attitudes towards growing and evolving with the city of Nashville is something that can be seen with ABC's "Nashville" as well. While the show has seen much success, winning the Critics' Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series in 2012 and series star Hayden Panettiere ("Heroes") being nominated for two Golden Globe Awards, the show refuses to remain stagnant.

Pop icon Christina Aguilera will make a multi-episode appearance in season 3 of "Nashville," playing a familiar role as a character who is a pop superstar. Once she arrives in Nashville, however, she suddenly realizes that her heart and soul are in country, which causes an immediate inner conflict. This won't be the first time Aguilera has appeared on a television series, as she's been a recurring coach in NBC's "The Voice" and appeared once upon a time in "The Mickey Mouse Club."

"I'm excited to try something different, as I do think in life, and in music, experience just adds to the creative process," she told "Billboard" magazine. "I can say that my character is a successful pop singer who desperately wants to move into the country world, as that is her true passion. But she is caught between her passion and what the label wants her to do."

It seems that the general mantra amongst those who are involved with "Nashville" is one of experience, growth and pursuit. The show continues to push its boundaries and experiment with new formats -- the season 3 premiere of "Nashville" became the first episode of a scripted drama series to air live in front of an audience. The skill required to perform such a feat sings for itself, as the cast and crew are the embodiment of true passion of country music and lifestyle.

If you're itching for a behind-the-scenes look of how the music is made, the artists interact and the actors develop that candid chemistry, you won't want to miss "Nashville on the Record 2," when it airs Wednesday, March 25, on ABC.
