Go for four: In Hollywood, if something works, milk it. "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" is barely behind us, and already Syfy is laying out its plans for a fourth installment of the over-the-top shark-based disaster movie franchise.

At the end of the third film, which premiered July 22 on the NBCUniversal-owned channel, the fate of Tara Reid's ("American Pie," 1999) character April -- who's been in all three films to date -- is very much up in the air. The movie ends -- spoiler alert! -- just as a piece of debris from space hurtles towards her, setting up a cliffhanger ending that will keep franchise fans in suspense until "Sharknado 4" arrives.

In a metaphorical love letter to the "Sharknado" community that's made the franchise such a success, though, the masterminds behind the films are leaving it up to the fans to decide April's fate.

Fans have been encouraged to vote at Sharknado.syfy.com or use the Twitter hashtags #AprilLives or #AprilDies, with the more popular fate for Reid's character becoming the cannon storyline.

It may be unconventional for a franchise to give up creative control over one of its two main stars (the other being "Beverly Hills, 90210's" Ian Ziering), but for the "Sharknado" franchise, turning to Twitter makes perfect sense. In 2013, "Sharknado" premiered to underwhelming ratings, but the resulting explosion of tweets, including many by celebrities, resulted in repeat airings of the movie, which helped grow its audience by leaps and bounds.

So it could definitely be said that Twitter made the "Sharknado" franchise into the phenomenon that it is today, and letting Twitter users decide April's fate may well be the ultimate way of saying "thank you."

"Sharknado 4" has no release date yet, but if the past films are any indication, fans should expect to see it in the summer of 2016.

Gritty in 'Gotham': Fox's "Gotham" has its first season behind it, and its cast is expanding for its second.

Emmy winner Michael Chiklis has joined the cast of the series that explores the origins of Batman's most notorious villains and the beginnings of the career of the man who will eventually become one of his most steadfast allies, police detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie, "The O.C.")

Chiklis is definitely no stranger to superheroes. He starred as Ben Grimm -- better known as superhero the Thing -- in 2005's big screen flick "Fantastic Four." But he's not just about the comic book superhero stories. He won a Golden Globe for his outstanding performance in FX's "The Shield," a role that also netted him an Emmy and a Television Critics Association Award, and he has also starred in "American Horror Story," "Vegas" and "The Commish."

In "Gotham," he'll be playing a new police captain at the precinct who becomes an important ally in Gordon's quest to clean up the crime and corruption that's rampant throughout the metropolis. The pair will have their work cut out for them, though. While the first season of the grim crime drama focused on the origins of such iconic villains as the Riddler, the Joker and Catwoman, the second season will explore their rise towards supervillainy.

Along with McKenzie, Chiklis will be joining a cast that already includes Donal Logue ("Vikings"), Zabryna Guevara ("The Guilt Trip," 2012), Sean Pertwee ("Equilibrium," 2002), Robin Lord Taylor ("Another Earth," 2011), Camren Bicondova ("Battlefield America," 2012), Cory Michael Smith ("Olive Kitteridge") and John Doman ("The Wire").

"Gotham" is scheduled to return to Fox Monday, Sept. 21.

What a 'Catch': ABC is adding yet another Shondaland show to its lineup. Is it really any wonder why? The production company founded by Shonda Rhimes is responsible for some of the biggest hits on the network, including "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal" and "How to Get Away With Murder."

"The Catch" may be the next show to add its name to the list of Shondaland hits on the alphabet network. A release date hasn't yet been set for the new drama, but its pilot is behind it and the casting is in full swing for its anticipated premiere.

Sonya Walger is the latest actress to come aboard and join an already stellar lineup of actors. She's had recurring roles in "Parenthood" and "Lost," and joins a cast that's headlined by Mireille Enos ("The Killing").

In "The Catch," Enos stars as Alice Vaughan, a forensics accountant who finds and exposes fraud for a living. The investigator, however, is about to become the victim when her fiancé pulls one over on her.

"The Catch" has no announced release date as of yet, but it's expected to premiere later in the 2015-16 TV season on ABC.
