Halloween

The brutal Michael Myers (Courtney) returns on Halloween to continue his homicidal rampage. For Laurie Strode (Curtis), the one woman who survived his original killing spree in the 1970s, his return is far from unexpected. She's spent decades learning self-defence and training with weapons in anticipation of Myers' inevitable return, but her obsession has damaged her relationships with her family, including that with her daughter, Karen (Greer). With the serial killer leaving a trail of bodies in his wake as he hunts for the one victim that got away from him so long ago, Laurie readies herself for the confrontation that's been decades in the making.

Director: David Gordon Green. Stars: Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, James Jude Courtney, Nick Castle, Andi Matichak, Haluk Bilginer. 2018. 106 min. Horror.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

Best friends Sonny (Taylor) and Sam (Harris) accidentally release an evil ventriloquist's dummy named Slappy (Wingert) upon their town when they find and open a locked manuscript in an abandoned house that they're cleaning. Director: Ari Sandel. Stars: Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Mick Wingert, Madison Iseman, Ken Jeong, Chris Parnell, Bryce Cass. 2018. 90 min. Adventure.

While a rookie detective (Affleck) leads a team that's determined to bring him down, Tucker continues to evade capture, in part thanks to a woman (Spacek) who's taken in by his charming nature, and who sees past his nefarious profession and loves him in spite of it.

Director: David Lowery. Stars: Robert Redford, Sissy Spacek, Casey Affleck, Danny Glover, Tom Waits, Tika Sumpter. 2018. 93 min. Crime.
