From his time as a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport to his legendary performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985, the life of Queen's lead singer, Freddie Mercury (Malek), includes some legendary highs and crippling lows. After their debut album becomes a hit in the United States, the band goes on a tour of the country and the newly married Mercury begins to question his sexuality. Within just a few years, Queen finds incredible success, but behind the curtain, Mercury's personal life spirals out of control as his wife, Mary (Boynton), feels increasingly isolated by her husband's attraction to men.
Marketing firm employee Danica (Sumpter) is up for a big promotion at work, but her life is thrown into disarray when her newly paroled sister, Tanya (Haddish), comes to live with her. When Tanya learns that Danica has never actually met Charlie (Brooks), a drop-dead gorgeous man she's been dating online for more than a year, she suspects that her sister is being catfished, and she tracks down the man behind the "Charlie" identity to help her sister get revenge.
Colorado Sen. Gary Hart (Jackman) is the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, and against the advice of campaign manager Bill Dixon (Simmons), he invites both the public and press to follow him around while he isn't campaigning to see how he lives his life. That invitation comes back to bite him when reporters snap pictures of him with journalist Donna Rice (Paxton) that seem to indicate that he's cheating on his wife, Lee (Farmiga). As he fights to clear his name, Hart finds his campaign crumbling around him.
