It's a little early to be worrying about "Pit Bulls and Parolees" -- its 13th season ended in late March, but there's no reason to believe it won't have another, most likely later this year.

Animal Planet shows don't obey the normal rules of TV scheduling. Because the cable channel doesn't operate on a seasonal rotation like broadcast networks do, it needs new content year-round. And because its content is exclusively of the reality/documentary variety, it can crank it out relatively quickly.

"Pit Bulls and Parolees" has been airing on an almost semi-annual basis, putting out two seasons per year. I say "almost" because the schedule's not quite that neat -- the past few seasons have all been airing around early winter and late summer/early fall, but there are weeks and even months of variation in there.

That said, the pattern suggests Season 14 is due sometime around August.

That's if it gets a Season 14, though, again, there's no suggestion that it won't.

Star, host and creator Tia Torres certainly has no shortage of dogs to rehome. The premise of the show is simple -- she pairs abandoned pit bull dogs with recent parolees, drawing parallels between the two as those who may feel unwanted by society. That recipe has produced a show that's equal parts feel-good and tearjerker, and that's a pretty compelling reality TV combo.
