Quite a bit. Indeed, Karen Gillan's career can be pretty neatly divided into pre- and post-"Doctor Who" phases, and the post phase has been a lot busier.

After being discharged by "Doctor Who" in 2012, she starred in another TV show and appeared in a number of films, one of which happened to be the second-highest grossing film of 2014.

She played Nebula, an intergalactic assassin, in the comic book hit "Guardians of the Galaxy." And as is often the case with these Marvel movies, she'll be back for the sequel in 2017.

She just recently appeared in the even more star-studded financial comedy "The Big Short," opposite Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and other notably attractive people.

She also starred in the ABC sitcom "Selfie," which only lasted a season back in 2014. She's climbed back up on the TV horse, though, and will be appearing soon in the HBO drama series "The Devil You Know," about the Salem witch trials.

Compare all that to her pre-"Doctor Who" days, when she had only done a few one-off roles on TV, two small film roles and a supporting role in the short-lived sketch comedy series "The Kevin Bishop Show."

Interestingly, her pre-"Doctor Who" phase also includes an appearance in "Doctor Who." But not in a time-travel way -- one of her early one-off TV roles was a small guest spot in a 2008 episode, playing a "soothsayer."
