Assuming you mean the killer doll in the "Child's Play" movies, Chucky was voiced by Oscar-nominated oddball Brad Dourif.

I can assume that's the Chucky you mean because the character has become the franchise, to the extent that the most recent three of the six movies in the series weren't called "Child's Play" at all. The first two sequels were numbered, but the last three were titled with variations of "of Chucky" -- "Bride of Chucky" (1998), "Seed of Chucky" (2004) and "Curse of Chucky" (2013).

Much of that has to do with strong performances by Dourif, both on screen and in the recording booth.

The premise of the films is that a serial killer, played by Dourif, uses voodoo to transfer his soul into a doll. He played the killer in the first and most recent films and provided the voice of the doll for all six.

It's not surprising that Dourif can turn in a convincing crazy-person gig. Indeed, that's kind of his trademark.

His acting resumé is full of such roles, starting with his Oscar-nominated turn in the 1975 classic "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," a dramedy set in a mental hospital.

His career sort of went downhill prestige-wise after that, but he's now a horror movie go-to guy, with roles in other genre favorites such as "Alien: Resurrection" (1997), "Urban Legend" (1998) and the rebooted "Halloween" films directed by slasher-film aficionado Rob Zombie.
