It turns out TV just couldn't handle the frantic pace of Rebel Wilson's fun nights.

"Super Fun Night," the ABC sitcom about a group of friends who try to make every Friday night a "super fun night," was canceled this past spring.

Its one and only season received mixed critical reviews, but more to the point, it never caught on with viewers.

It started out strong, pulling in more than eight million sets of eyeballs for its premiere, but the numbers dropped pretty consistently from there, so that its final episode the following February drew just 2.6 million.

To put that in context, its finale came in ninth place on the night, and four of the shows that beat it were in reruns.

The initial success was largely due to its lead. The series starred and was created by Rebel Wilson, the Australian comedian and actress best known over here for her role in the breakout musical-comedy hit "Pitch Perfect" (2012).
