There's a really good reason you haven't seen him: Jay Pharoah has left the show.

He joined the cast of legendary sketch show "Saturday Night Live" in 2010, but after six seasons, at the end of last summer, his contract was not renewed.

However, in a surprisingly candid interview in April, Pharoah said he wasn't happy in the show anyway.

"They put people in boxes and whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do," he told New York's Hot 97 radio station.

He said he had a lot of conflict with the show's producers because of his willingness to say no.

"I'm just a little more affirmative than some of the other cast members. A lot of people are scared of Lorne."

The "Lorne" he's referring to is creator and (still, after 42 years) producer Lorne Michaels. But he insisted "there ain't no beef" between himself and Michaels. "I like Lorne … there ain't no beef with Lorne. We're on good graces and everything."

Having departed the show, he quickly said yes to a new gig. He'll be starring alongside Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Showtime series "White Famous," about a young black comedian working his way toward fame. (Many forget that Foxx, too, got his start in a sketch comedy show, the '90s Fox series "In Living Color.")
