Q&A

Q: Please tell me that "Forever" will be back next season. I fell in love with the show, the ensemble, the story concept, and I thought the male lead with the funny name would also have made a great James Bond!

Sadly, "Forever" has come to an end.

Despite how easy that joke was to make, this shouldn't be a laughing matter, if only because of how sad it has made Ioan Gruffudd.

Shortly after ABC made the show's cancelation official, the show's difficultly named star (he's Welsh, if you're wondering) wrote a long and emotional note on the social media site Instagram to say goodbye to fans.

"This time the cards weren't dealt in our favor. Show business is like that. Hell, life is like that. You ride to the top of the wave and then you come crashing down again."

Gruffudd also tossed a thank you to the show's devoted fans, saying that, among many other services, they "gave me confidence when I accidentally found myself reading less than shining reviews."

This, of course, gets to the root of the problem. On top of the bad reviews, he also admits in his note that the show always struggled in the ratings. The show steadily dropped viewers throughout its first season, with its season finale drawing just 4.1 million viewers -- half as many as its premiere.

As for your idea about Gruffudd playing James Bond, this does free him up to do so, and he has previously expressed interest in the role.
"Maybe in seven years' time when Daniel [Craig, the current Bond] is done and tired of it and can retire a very rich man, then maybe I could step into his shoes," he said in an interview with London's "Daily Express" newspaper. That interview actually took place eight years ago, so he's already behind schedule.

Since then, however, numerous other actors have been rumored for the role. The latest is Idris Elba, star of the British detective show "Luther" and numerous big-screen films. Indeed, speculating about who should play James Bond is something of a sport among Bond fans, and Gruffudd's name hasn't been mentioned in a while.
