There are actually two things going on here. You're right that Noah Wyle seems to have too much to do, starring in two different shows. And you're also right that TNT canceled "Falling Skies." However, these two things are not related.

Though Wyle appears to be pulling double-time, starring on two different shows, both on TNT, in fact his "Librarians" schedule has been precisely tailored to suit his pre-existing "Falling Skies" commitments.

"He was going to be in this for as much as he could," explained "Librarians" creator John Rogers in an interview with Collider.com. "We would have loved to have him more, and he would have loved to do it more, but we slammed right up against his shooting schedule."

That is to say that he's a part-time star of "The Librarians," but a full-time star of "Falling Skies." At least for now.

The "shooting schedule" Rogers refers to is that of the fifth season of "Falling Skies," which also happens to be its last. It's slated to air this summer.

What that means for his role in "The Librarians" remains to be seen. He's already committed to shooting the miniseries "To Appomattox" when he finishes "Falling Skies," and he recently wrapped filming on a big-screen film, the independent drama "The World Made Straight," suggesting a potential turn away from series TV.

However, there's no sign of his character going away on "The Librarians." Indeed, Rogers says that Wyle is almost irrationally committed to sticking with it.

The series is based on a trilogy of TV movies in which he starred as Flynn Carsen, a mild-mannered librarian charged with defending a collection of mystical treasures.

"He doesn't want to give that up. He loves that character," Rogers said.
