"My Pet Monster" was about a toy monster doll that came to life when a set of magical handcuffs was removed. The toy's owner, Max, was of course interested in keeping this a secret (the default approach, and basic plot driver, in most kids shows). The only other people to know this secret are Max's friend, Chuckie, and his more responsible sister, Jill.

Jill was voiced by prolific voice actor Alyson Court, whose pipes would certainly sound familiar to cartoon fans of various ages.

Among her other notable roles have been Lydia on the "Beetlejuice" cartoon that ran from 1989 to 1991, a spinoff of the popular Tim Burton film of the same name. She later voiced Jubilee on the popular "X-Men" cartoon in the mid-'90s, and more recently performed the role of Megan on Cartoon Network's "The Amazing Spiez" from 2009 to 2010 and Elf Girl on the European series "Mia and Me" from 2011 to 2012.

All that said, she wasn't "prolific" yet at the time she got the "My Pet Monster" job -- indeed, she was still close to childhood herself. Court was born in 1973, which means she was just 14 when she began on "My Pet Monster" in 1987, and that wasn't even her first gig.

Her first job was a live-acting role in an episode of the family-friendly series "The Edison Twins" in 1985, when she was 12. She switched to voice acting later that year with a regular role on the "Star Wars" spinoff cartoon "Ewoks," and most of her work has been off-screen since.
