It is. Kevin McKidd was born in Elgin, Scotland.

In fact, one of his first roles was in the quintessentially Scottish 1996 film "Trainspotting." His character, Tommy, is the one who enthuses about the rolling green landscape making him "proud to be Scottish," only to be shot down in colorful terms by Ewan McGregor's character.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper "El Periodico," McKidd said that, much like his "Trainspotting" character, he loves the Scottish countryside, but he's glad he made the move to L.A.

"For the children, with the sun and the beach, California is a paradise."

Though he's been putting on an American accent for his role on "Grey's Anatomy" since 2008, he still gets to drop it now and again.

He even got to play his native accent up a little for his voice role in "Brave," which was, of course, set in Scotland. He starred along with a number of other Scottish greats, including Robbie Coltrane (of the "Harry Potter" franchise, among countless other things), comedian Billy Connolly and recently retired "Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson.

"Brave" also reunited him with his old "Trainspotting" castmate Kelly Macdonald.
