Jason Momoa's star has been consistently rising in recent years.

He had a somewhat inauspicious introduction as a regular in the last two seasons of the increasingly laughable drama "Baywatch" from 1999 to 2001. Things heated up for him about 10 years later, though, with his role on "Game of Thrones," the most talked-about series on TV, as well as the lead in the high-profile "Conan the Barbarian" reboot (2011).

But he's poised to rise still further soon, once he officially joins the Justice League. Momoa has reportedly been cast as the self-explanatory superhero Aquaman for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

If it's successful, "Batman v Superman" will almost certainly be the beginning of a Justice League film franchise, akin to Disney and Marvel's "Avengers" series.

In the meantime, Momoa has kept more than busy. He plays one of the lead roles in the gritty SundanceTV series "The Red Road," which was recently renewed for a second season (though it will be as brief as the first, with just six episodes) and recently finished work on the indie film "Road to Paloma," which he wrote, directed, produced and starred in.
