Q&A

Q: I remember him from the sitcom "Valerie's Family" and know he's having a sort of career revival now, but where did Jason Bateman actually get his start?

That's a good question, because few probably remember a very young Jason Bateman appearing in a full season of the family classic "Little House on the Prairie."

In his very first screen role, he played one of the children adopted by the ever-generous Ingalls family after his parents died in a wagon accident (the 1800s version of a car crash). His character was introduced at the end of the seventh season in 1981 and would remain until the end of the eighth.

He landed another season-long gig in the kid-friendly sitcom "Silver Spoons" in 1982, before getting his star-making role as David Hogan in the ensemble sitcom "Valerie's Family" in 1986.
