From flash mobs to “Dance Dance Revolution” to the seemingly endless parade of “Step Up” sequels, there’s no doubt that we, as a species, like to get our groove on. Or, at the very least, watch other people get their groove on.

Better still when the groovers are attractive celebrities. That would explain why a particular conglomeration of attractive, dancing celebrities has found such a solid niche in prime time. “Dancing with the Stars” is gearing up for its 19th season, and it's still going strong.

Much speculation has been passed around as to which A-listers (and not-quite-A-listers) will grace the stage this fall, and a trio of new dancing pros is sure to keep things interesting. The new season premieres Monday, Sept. 15, on ABC, with all the moves, music and sequins that you could ask for.

Even if you’ve never caught “Dancing with the Stars” before, you’re sure to recognize it when you see it. The dance teams consist of a professional dancer paired up with a celebrity, and the latter can come with a wide variety of backgrounds. In the past, the celebrity contestants have included actors, singers, models, Olympians and more -- no dance experience required. The teams perform choreographed routines and rake in audience votes and points from a panel of judges, with the lowest-scoring couple getting the boot each week.

Returning to host the new season are the Emmy Award-winning Tom Bergeron, who’s been with the show for its entire run to date, and sports personality Erin Andrews, who’s back for her second season. They’ll be joined by a team of judges consisting of Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and the newly acquired Julianne Hough.

Incorporating a fourth permanent judge this season is a departure for the show, which, up until this point, has always had a three-person panel. Guest judges have always gone over well in the past, though -- well, some better than others -- so it would stand to reason that bringing a fourth judge on full time could help keep things fresh.

What better choice for the job than Hough, who stood in as one of several guest judges last season? Along with her growing career in acting and music, the 26-year-old has become a household name in the dance world. She’s certainly no stranger to “Dancing with the Stars” -- in fact, the show is what served as the two-time champion’s springboard to stardom.

Hough started her “DWTS” career as one of the professional dancers back in season 4 and has won two Mirror Ball trophies on the show. She’s since gone on to launch a country album, which, though met with mixed reviews, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. In 2009, she took home the award for Top New Artist at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

Many of her acting roles even tend to reflect her love of song and dance. One of her earliest portrayals was a dancer named Georgia in the 2010 musical “Burlesque,” where she acted alongside musical powerhouses Cher and Christina Aguilera. She landed her first leading role in the 2011 remake of “Footloose” and starred in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages.”

Now the triple-threat is pleased to be back with the show that started it all.

“'Dancing with the Stars' has always been a part of my family,” she said on “Good Morning America.” “That’s where it all began for me, so it just kind of made sense."

“I've always aspired to be an all-around entertainer, whether I'm acting, dancing or singing, and I’m thrilled for this opportunity that will allow me to continue all of those pursuits,” she added in a news release.

That means she’ll be passing sentence on her own brother, Derek Hough, who is returning to compete as a pro this season. She assured “Good Morning America” viewers, however, that she won’t judge her brother any differently than the rest of the dancers.

Derek and the rest of the returning pros will be joined by some fresh faces for season 19, and there’s no doubt that the newcomers are up to the challenge. Season 2 “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant Allison Holker will be joining the fray, and she comes armed with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Choreography. Artem Chigvintsev has already appeared in the original U.K. version of “DWTS,” “Strictly Come Dancing,” and Keoikantse "Keo" Motsepe has guested in the show in South Africa.

This is really just a drop in the bucket for the three new pros, who all boast long and far-reaching dance careers and have already had their fair share of screen time. Now they're ready to see if they can turn this new batch of celebrities into true dancing machines.

Nineteen seasons in, “Dancing with the Stars” still garners big love, and fans of the show are in for another exciting ride when things kick off Monday, Sept. 15, on ABC. Tune in to check out which celeb will come out at the top of the heap.
