Gilded age giggles: She's barely wrapped up one blast to the past, and already Christina Hendricks is headed for another time-traveling romp.

The five-time Emmy nominee has only just helped turn out the lights on the set of AMC's "Mad Men," the 1960s-era period drama, and she's already signed to guest star in Comedy Central's new period show.

"Another Period" premieres Tuesday, June 23, but unlike "Mad Men," this period show is no serious drama.

Set in beautiful Rhode Island in the opening years of the 20th century, "Another Period" is being billed as a spoof of "Downton Abbey" mixed with "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and similar reality shows.

Starring Paget Brewster ("Criminal Minds"), Natasha Leggero ("Suburgatory"), Riki Lindhome ("Gilmore Girls"), David Koechner ("The Office") and Lauren Ash ("Super Fun Night"), "Another Period" focuses on the Bellacourt family, the wealthiest family in town.

Mostly, the action -- and the laughs -- will be centered around the efforts of sisters Lillian (Leggero) and Beatrice (Lindhome) to become famous. After all, when you're a pair of wealthy, attractive socialites, why shouldn't everyone know who you are?

Unfortunately for them, though, in the days before television, the Internet and 24-hour news networks, it's a lot harder to become a household name.

It's not all about these self-centered aristocrats, though. In true "Downton Abbey" style, the downtrodden servants are also along for the ride -- and for whatever their narcissistic employers happen to throw their way.

The regular cast itself is deserving of the "all-star" moniker, and with guest stars of Hendricks' caliber already lining up, it looks like "Another Period" could have a successful life ahead of it. The comedy premieres Tuesday, June 23, on Comedy Central.

Another day at the beach: Something's lurking at the beach. No, it's not a man-eating shark or some building-sized monster from the depths. This time it's ... movie characters?

In 2013, Disney Channel's "Teen Beach Movie" told the story of a hip young surfer dude (Ross Lynch, "Austin & Ally") and his girlfriend (Maia Mitchell, "Trapped") being swept away by a giant wave and winding up inside his favorite movie, "Wet Side Story."

Well, after a big tease at the end of that film, a sequel is finally heading to Disney Channel Friday, June 26.

"Teen Beach 2" will be an exciting reunion for most of the cast of the first film. Along with Lynch and Mitchell, Garrett Clayton ("The Fosters"), Grace Phipps ("Baby Daddy") and John DeLuca ("Twisted") will all be reprising their roles from the first film, along with many others.

While "Teen Beach Movie" transported two hip young teens to a 1960s-era movie world, "Teen Beach 2" will be doing the opposite: bringing the movie characters into the modern-day world.

Someone from the real 1960s suddenly appearing in our modern world would already be a hard enough adjustment. Someone from an idealized movie world filled with glittering white smiles and where rivalries are settled by song and dance routines, adjusting would be nearly impossible!

Or would it? The only way to find out is to watch Disney Channel's "Teen Beach 2," premiering Friday, June 26.

Who's there?: After a long, long time, "American Idol" is finally coming to an end. Fox has announced that the one-time juggernaut will wrap up after its next season, finishing with 15 seasons under its belt -- a true accomplishment regardless of what you think of the show.

Ryan Seacrest, who's served as the competition's host since its inception, isn't going anywhere, though. In fact, he's already hard at work on what might be this summer's next big reality hit.

"Knock Knock Live" is planned to debut Tuesday, July 21, on Fox, with Seacrest serving as both host and as executive producer.

The show will feature average folks getting a knock on their front door. When they answer it, they'll be offered the chance of a lifetime: a big sum of cash, meeting a celebrity or perhaps some other life-changing opportunity.

The kicker, though, is that "Knock Knock Live" will be just that -- live TV. Without clever video editing, the reactions that audiences at home see from ordinary people being offered extraordinary opportunities will be nothing but real.

"Knock Knock Live" marks a return to live summertime TV for Seacrest. In 2013, he hosted "The Million Second Quiz" on NBC, a much-hyped game show that ended up being panned by critics and avoided by audiences.

Summertime, though, is a time for happy vibes and good feelings -- exactly what "Knock Knock Live" is offering. The latest Ryan Seacrest offering premieres Tuesday, July 21, on Fox.
