David Boreanaz will direct the 100th episode of "Bones"
CAMS ON THE CENTURY: Over five seasons, the leading man in Fox's "Bones" has been there to help his team of forensic anthropologists catch bad guys, console the grieving families of victims and even rescue his own colleagues when they get into trouble.
Now, the man behind the heroic character of FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth will be the man behind the camera to guide his costars through the show's pensive centennial scenes.
David Boreanaz is taking on double duty as he portrays his popular FBI character as well as directs the show's 100th episode, which will air on Thursday, April 8.
The landmark episode, titled "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole," will follow Booth and Dr. Temperance Brennan (played by Emily Deschanel) as they reflect on their relationship and how the team members have collectively changed each other's lives.
This will mark the second time Boreanaz has taken the director's chair on the show's set. He previously directed an episode called "The Bones That Foam," which first aired in March of last year.
"I'm so proud to stand by each and every cast and crew member on this momentous achievement of our 100th episode," said Boreanaz in a release. "All the blood, sweat and tears has brought us to this moment. With each step we became a family, and with each step further I take on directing this episode as a friend."
Series creator Hart Hanson was equally enthused over the thought of his show reaching such a milestone.
"All of us at 'Bones' are keenly aware of how rare and exciting it is for a television drama to make it to the 100th-episode mark," said Hanson. "For this to happen, a lot of elements have to come together in an organic way, the most important being cast and audience. 'Bones' is fortunate to have the best of both."
BRAINWASHING BARNEY: MacLaren's bar will soon be graced by a New York native with big star power when Jenny From The Block rolls in to take on playboy Barney.
CBS recently announced that Jennifer Lopez has signed on to guest star in its hit Monday night comedy "How I Met Your Mother," in an episode scheduled to air next month.
Lopez will play self-help author Anita Appleby, whose books teach women to use the power of denial to train men to be better in relationships. Anita becomes immediately interested in the group of friends when Robin (played by Cobie Smulders) tells her of Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and his womanizing ways. Anita becomes determined to break Barney's pattern of behavior with the use of her techniques.
"We couldn't be more excited about Jennifer Lopez joining us on 'How I Met Your Mother,' " said executive producer Carter Bays, who added that the cast and crew are curious to see what kinds of "revealing outfits and sexy dance moves" Lopez might bring to the set.
"How I Met Your Mother" has brought in quite a significant number of big-name guest stars over the years, including Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias, Carrie Underwood, Sarah Chalke, Wayne Brady, Laura Prepon and Alan Thicke.
Lopez, a famed singer, dancer and actress who has been listed by "Forbes" magazine as Hollywood's richest star of Latin American descent, is best known for her film roles in "Shall We Dance" (2004), "Maid in Manhattan" (2002), "The Wedding Planner" (2001), "The Cell" (2000) and "Selena" (1997).
However, she got her start on TV as a dancer on the sketch-comedy series "In Living Color." She also starred in a few short-lived series in the '90s, and got good reviews for her guest-starring arc playing herself on "Will & Grace."
BINDING 'DAYS': Soap-opera fans are some of the most loyal TV viewers around. Now, those who are glued to the tube for an hour each day to watch NBC's sudser "Days of Our Lives" will be given another outlet to feed their fandom.
The network recently announced that Corday Productions, which makes the serial, and Sony Pictures Consumer Products have partnered with independent publisher Sourcebooks to release a whole slew of books based on "Days" and its characters.
With fiction and non-fiction titles included in the line, fans will be able to get their hands on everything from behind-the-scenes accounts of the origin of the show and its 44-year history to extended storylines and even full-length novels following individual characters.
"Community is at the heart of the future publishing enterprise," said Sourcebooks publisher Dominique Raccah in a release. "We're incredibly excited to be working with Ken Corday, Corday Productions, and Sony Pictures to create a line of books and more, directly for the millions of fans that are the 'Days of Our Lives' community."
The first publication, "The Days of Our Lives: The Untold Story of One Family's Dream and the True History of The Days of Our Lives," is scheduled to hit bookshelves in May. It was written by executive producer Ken Corday, who is the son of series creators Ted and Betty Corday.
"I am thrilled to be working on such an amazing project that will give our loyal viewers the ability to understand my family's journey through theatre, radio and television to the creation of 'Days of Our Lives,'" said Corday.
